How To Measure For Inside Mount Roller Shades
Inside mount roller shades or blinds are installed inside the window frame or casing. For inside mounting, follow these steps:
1.Measure the depth of your window frame, from the front of the opening to the glass. You'll need this measurement to ensure your window recess meets the minimum depth requirement for an inside mount.2.Measure the width of each window. Measure the width of your window opening in three places: left, center and right. Circle the shortest measurement- this is the number you submit for your window’s width.
3.Measure the height of your window opening in three places: left, center, and right. Circle the tallest measurement - this is the number you submit for your window's height.
4.Order at the exact opening size with no deductions. The factory will take deductions around 0.2" in production. :
5.Double check that your measurements follow the width by height format (W x H).
How To Measure For Outside Mount Roller Shades
Outside mount roller shades or blinds are mounted on the window molding or wall above your window. Outside mount shades are a good choice if an inside mount is not possible due to window depth. For outside mount roller shades, follow these steps：
1.Check the mounting requirements on your roller shades to ensure you have enough flat surface for the mounting hardware.Measure the exact width (left to right) of the window frame or how wide you would like the blind to be. Be sure to measure wide enough to cover the entire window and provide maximum light coverage.If your window has no trim, we recommend adding three to six inches on each side of your window to provide light gap coverage and privacy. Mark these additions on each side and measure the width between them in a straight line. Example: If the window opening is 38"wide, it might be helpful to order 42" if the space allows. This will provide 2" coverage on each side of the window.
3.Measure the height you would like the blind to be by measuring top to bottom. Be sure to measure high enough to cover the entire window and provide maximum light coverage. Example: If the window opening is 64”high, it might be helpful to order 68” if the space allows. This will provide 2” coverage on top and bottom of the window.
4.Double check that your measurements follow the width by height format (W x H). Remember, with outside mount roller shades, your product will be made to the exact specified size.

Tips and Help Hints Before You Begin
Most of our window treatments require very few tools and are easy to install on your own. Have the following tools handy before you begin: Steel Measuring Tape,Pencil,Step Ladders if necessary,Screwdriver Drill or Power Drill (with 1/4” hex driver and drill bit),
For the most accurate measurements, only use a steel tape measure. Your window measurements should have accounted for either an inside mount or an outside mount. An inside mount is installed inside the window recess and provides a clean, finished look. An outside mount rests above the window and covers the entire frame. Double check all packaging and make sure you received the correct number of screws, mounts, and hardware with your order before you begin installing.
Position Brackets With Pencil and Level
1.Position the first bracket in the upper corner of the window frame so that it's level with the wall's surface. Always check your specific product instructions for the exact placement of the brackets. If your blinds came with a decorative valance, you will need to set the brackets further back into the window opening to allow room for the valance.
2.Mark the screw locations with a pencil.
3.Repeat steps 1 and 2 with the second bracket in the opposite corner of the window frame. If you're mounting into drywall with no studs behind, you will need to use drywall anchors.
4.Use a steel tape measure or a level tool to ensure the two bracket locations are even.
Screw The Brackets In Place
5.Use a drill bit - smaller than your screws - to drill pilot holes through your bracket marks.
6.Screw the brackets in place.7.Install your blinds by sliding the headrail into the brackets, and close the brackets to secure the headrail in place, or snap the headrail into the brackets for other styles.
Mount the headrail.
8.Position the headrail with the front panel restingon the top lip of the brackets. Push the bottom front of the headrail firmly backwards and toward the window until the lip on the rear of the headrail engages the bracket and snaps into place.
